About Cisco Catalyst Switch WS-X6148A-45AF

The Cisco WSX6148A45AF is a highdensity 48port 10/100BaseT Ethernet interface module designed to fit into the chassis of Cisco Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series (and compatible 7600 series) switches. With onboard IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, this module allows network administrators to power PoE devices such as IP phones, wireless access points, security cameras, and other PoEenabled endpoints directly over standard Ethernet cabling, saving on separate power cabling and simplifying deployment.

The module delivers reliable, stable performance with good port density, making it a robust choice for enterpriselevel access networks, branch offices, and campus LAN deployments. It supports essential Layer 2 Ethernet features, VLAN tagging, QoS, and portsecurity options (depending on supervisor / IOS configuration), enabling flexible network segmentation and traffic management.

Because it is a plugin module for a modular chassis, it is hotswappable (given proper chassis and supervisor engine support), which allows upgrades or maintenance without significant network downtime. It is widely used in scenarios where many PoEenabled endpoints are required, such as VoIP deployments, WiFi access, CCTV, and other networkpowered devices all through a single compact 48port line card.
